Noteworthy : Inspiring Links & Updates - roomfortuesday.comI’m a little past due for a new Noteworthy post, so I wanted to squeeze one in before the month comes to a close next week. How are we already at the end of September?! This time of year always seems to fly by. Looking back at my past September & October posts, I rediscovered one of my favorites… does anyone remember my fall patio dinner party from a few years ago? If not, I’ll sprinkle some images throughout because it was one of the most fun outdoor dinner parties to plan & decorate. Click through for my fall bucket list, to weigh in on the color of the year, to see my latest finds, browse inspiring links, and of course- for monthly updates. I’m packing a LOT into this post! It’s a good one…

Noteworthy : Inspiring Links & Updates - roomfortuesday.comFirst up- let’s chat fall activities! Do you and your family have fall traditions or a seasonal list? Emmett & I always make fun seasonal plans and keep a running list of our favorite things we’d like to do or make time for. This fall, here is what our quick list is looking like:

  • Have a fall mountain picnic.
  • Take plenty of neighborhood RZR rides (if you’re curious, check out this post).
  • Go to our favorite Oktoberfest events and enjoy fall beer.
  • Make mookies (we made our first batch of the season last weekend).
  • Watch the entire Harry Potter series… we do this every fall.
  • Get cozy and read a book by the fire in our living room.
  • Make a batch of mulled wine or maple bourbon cider.
  • Host a small halloween gathering (for my birthday) and pass out candy to trick or treaters.
  • Go on a couple of our favorite fall hikes with the dogs.
  • Burn our favorite fall fragranced candles & make the house feel cozy.
  • Make chili, soup, or other comfort foods (chicken pot pie is definitely on the list).

Noteworthy : Inspiring Links & Updates - roomfortuesday.comThere is always lots to look forward to this time of year! It’s probably the Scorpio in me, but I love it. We also have some fall travel planned. We’re attending a friend’s small wedding in Zion this weekend, so we’re excited to venture into the park, hike, and celebrate. Emmett, Jordan, and myself (aka- the Tuesday Made crew) will also be attending High Point Market in North Carolina this October to scout new items for the shop. I’m really looking forward to that! It has been a few years since I’ve attended.

Noteworthy : Inspiring Links & Updates - roomfortuesday.comDid you see that Sherwin-Williams announced their Color of the Year yesterday?! They sent me a sweet box in the mail earlier this week announcing the color and it has been tough to keep it a secret. I absolutely love Evergreen Fog and could definitely see it in our home somewhere. Is it what you expected? Do you like it? It’s nice to see something a bit lighter and more neutral this year… it’s a very calming hue that still has personality.

Speaking of paint, I’ve actually got a paint post lined up for tomorrow. I ducked into my local True Value / Ace store last week to grab paint for my home office and pulled a bunch of beautiful swatches while I was there. It has been a long time since I’ve purchased Benjamin Moore paint, but I was reminded that they have some lovely desaturated colors and quality products. In the spirit of mixing things up, I pulled together a quick roundup of current favorite colors for you, so check back for that tomorrow!

Noteworthy : Inspiring Links & Updates - roomfortuesday.comRecent purchases? I’m not going to lie- fall is the one season where I actually get excited and enjoy buying clothing and fashion items. All of my recent purchases have been wardrobe related…

  • boots // I am living in these Sam Edelman boots right now, and you can’t beat the price. They also come in a butterscotch color, but I got the creamy white ones. They are super comfortable, especially for my wider feet. I’ve been pairing them with jeans, a sweater, or a flannel for a casual and comfy fall look. I can walk around in them all day without having sore feet at the end of a long work day, which is a major win!
  • striped boatneck long sleeve // I love stripes. I’ve always admired what the fashion experts call “french fashion” and I try to stick to classic pieces that won’t go out of style. This heavy long sleeve is 100% cotton, has a good neckline, is soft, and I know it’s one I’ll be layering for years to come. I bought a blazer that looks really good with it that I’ll be packing for High Point- with a nice pair of mules.
  • good threads cropped sweater // I wore this sweater all weekend when we visited California. It’s ideal for layering, isn’t too heavy, doesn’t itch, and has a great funnel shaped neck that isn’t overbearing with too much fabric. The cropped fit isn’t too short (I’m not the type that wants to show my stomach, ha), so I was impressed with the length. There is also a little room in the sleeves to cuff the sweater, which I really like!
  • animal print dress // I renewed my Rent the Runway subscription for the duration of this month because of the aforementioned events I have to attend this fall, and I’ve really been loving the selections I currently have here at home. This dress is a favorite for the in-between seasonal weather. I feel like it would be flattering on any body type!
  • fall blazer // I ordered this camel colored blazer for some work events and will let you know how I like it once it arrives. I was most attracted to the beautiful color and sleek shape. I feel like it will be one that is easy to layer.
  • black jeans // Let’s be real… the last time I wore baggy, wide leg jeans was in junior high school, and I’m not one of those people trying to keep up with the younger, hipper generation who is loving all things 90’s baggy denim. I’m still going to sport the jeans that look best for my figure and are most comfortable. These timeless black jeans are a new favorite that I’ve been wearing multiple times a week!
  • gold studs // As I’ve gotten older, most earrings irritate my ears (pretty badly). For our anniversary (and as a last earring effort), Emmett told me to pick out nice 14k gold earrings because I wanted a pair I can leave in 24/7. I’m happy to say, I’ve been wearing these for a month and I can’t even feel them! I opted for the flat back, so they’re comfortable to sleep in, and my ears are happy- no irritation whatsoever. It’s less stressful than swapping earrings, having itchy, inflamed ears, and I love the way these dainty earrings look… feminine and effortless. If you also have allergies, try the 14k gold ones from Mason Miru!

Noteworthy : Inspiring Links & Updates - roomfortuesday.comI think this kitchen design idea is genius, if you have the room for it. What a dream! I love how integrated these look.

This chateau tour in France kept surprising me the more I scrolled. Ha! I’ll let you decide if it has the same effect on you. Hmmm.

Are you looking for good soup recipes this season? This post includes a fantastic roundup! I saved most of these.

Noteworthy : Inspiring Links & Updates - roomfortuesday.comGuess what? My office built-ins are officially underway! I’ll try to work on a renovation update post for you soon. Things are moving along and I’m starting to get excited for styling. If you’re shelf styling, you’ve got to check out this Pinterest board for some incredible inspiration I’ve been saving!

I finished a few good books (in the romance / crime / suspense genre) I wanted to share, if anyone is looking for good reads this season: The Last Thing He Told Me, Little Secrets, and Where the Crawdads Sing (I know I’m late to the party on this one). Be sure to read that last one before the movie comes out this summer!

Noteworthy : Inspiring Links & Updates - roomfortuesday.comHave you seen the Arc de Triumph lately? I really enjoyed learning about this and watching it come to life. It’s too bad we don’t have a trip to Paris lined up, prior to October 3rd. That would be something to see!

I think that’s all I have for now! I hope everyone is having a lovely September. I’d love to hear your favorite fall activities or recipes, along with any inspiring links, books, or items you think would be fun to share with everyone.

  1. I’m not sure I’m sold on Evergreen Fog. I painted my previous bedroom Escape Gray, a lighter color on that color chart. I thought I liked it at first but it never quite sat right with me… neither grey enough nor green enough for me, I guess :) It actually may have more to do with the poor natural light we got in that room, it just kind of looked blah to me. But Evergreen Fog is a little bit darker, and in the right room would probably look nice. I’m actually more intrigued by the darker colors on that chart, the Dried Thyme and Rosemary ones. Of course our half bath is painted Dard Hunter Green, so I have a love of dark greens.

    1. I really like the muted, muddy tones, so I was pleasantly surprised with the hue for Color of the Year… I’m into it! Evergreen Fog is a bit darker. I’d be interested to see how it reads in different spaces! I also love the darker colors, jewel tones, and dark greens are my favorite, too! Have a great day, Lexie!

  2. Good morning! I had in my mind that yesterday might be a Noteworthy post…guess my intuition was a day off. 😉I was so inspired by your floral/lantern installation for this dinner party! It’s still in my mind for some future event. What’s not like about a pretty gray green? I honestly don’t give much thought to the color of the year. I do sometimes get frustrated when I’m searching for an item in a particular color that’s not on trend, but that’s just another reason to love vintage! Speaking of vintage, the last couple of falls had me hunting for plaid wool pants and the perfect camel hair blazer. Maybe this will be my lucky year! Your wardrobe picks look perfectly classic and curated. That should help with packing for High Point! I’ll look forward to hearing about your excursion. A trip to Paris in the fall would be sublime, but I’m not sure about that chateau… I like some of the modern elements, but I’m probably not sophisticated enough for elephants and giant white cactus. Gabby (@designmom) shared images of L’Arc de Triomphe the other day. So interesting. Built-ins!!!! Yes. That has got to mean the home stretch!!! So, so exciting. I’m off to check out your styling Pinterest board, even though I don’t have any shelves of my own.🤣 Have a wonderful Wednesday!💜

    1. Good morning! Your intuition is spot on… I’m just a day late! Haha! This was one of my favorite dinner parties. It was so much fun to style and decorate. Our pergola has never looked so festive! I tried on some plaid wool pants the other day (sadly not vintage), and I feel like I can’t pull them off, but I desperately want to. Ha! The vintage fashion scene around doesn’t feel amazing, but maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places. Paris in the fall is definitely on my bucket list, and I agree with you about the chateau- I was puzzled and confused. There were some strange moments happening there that made me scratch my head! Our glass for the built-ins is still delayed, but at least we’ll have the base and frame ready once the doors arrive! I’m feeling optimistic about our never-ending project. Here’s to an awesome Wednesday :)

  3. One of my favorite soups is a stuffed pepper soup that I saw on The Kitchn last year: https://www.thekitchn.com/stuffed-pepper-soup-22971262
I LOVE stuffed peppers, but they can be kind of a chore to put together (at least the way I typically make them)…this soups tastes exactly like a stuffed pepper but it’s so much quicker to get on the table! I’m in Florida so it’s still pretty hot here, but I’m excited for fall so I will likely be making soups here pretty soon anyway :)

I’m actually about to start reading the entire Harry Potter series again! The last year has been a bear for my mental health and focus has been something I’ve particularly struggled with, so reading has felt nearly impossible for quite a while. I’ve finally been getting back into it, though, and I think my love for that series will be a good way to rebuild some momentum for what used to be a daily reading habit. I love that you rewatch the movies together every fall – they’ve always felt like holiday movies for me as well!

    1. Ohh yum! Thanks so much for sharing, Stacy! I just pinned the recipe and am looking forward to giving it a try! I re-read the HP series a couple years ago, and it was really fun. I hadn’t read them since I was in school. We certainly enjoy watching the movies each year. I also agree that they feel like holiday movies! I’ve found that reading has helped my mental health and allows me an escape… it has definitely been a year though, and I can relate on focus feeling challenging. I’m so glad to hear you’re finally getting back into reading, your focus is returning, and hopefully it will bring you some joy! Have a wonderful day! xo

  4. Good morning! Our fall bucket list is usually pretty basic, but includes:
•kick-off to apple season in Oak Glen (if you’re ever in SoCal between Oct-Dec it’s worth the visit. Stop in at Laws for breakfast; try the apple tasting in the orchards at Stone Farm; visit Riley’s at Los Rio Rancho and take in the food trucks, live bands, and pick your own apples; pop over to Apple Annie’s for some fall treats- her apple butter is delightful; visit the butterfly preserve if you want a long hike in gorgeous wilderness)- there’s so much to do that we discover new things every year.
•watch all the fall movies: Hocus Pocus, Harry Potter series, Casper…
    •bake fall treats with Brooke
•visit the pumpkin patch (ours is huge-live bands, petting zoo, attractions, food trucks, haunted corn maze, and the best fall decor shop in town)
•Haunted Hay ride at Greenspot Farms
•Annual Haunted House (it’s done at a different home every year-usually the historic houses, or one of the many Braswell mansions)
•and of course, trick or treat and birthday celebration for me
High Point market looks incredible! Some of the furniture is to die for. 13 city blocks…it’s bound to be chalk full of great finds. I LOVE the color of the year! I may just have to paint my entire bedroom that color-or at minimum the back of a bookcase. My purchases for fall will be mostly throws. I’m trying to weed out the ones that I no longer love, in favor of having a more cohesive collection. My OCD can no longer handle the hodgepodge ragtag mix we have going on. The kitchen idea is genius, and I’ve often wondered why more kitchens aren’t designed that way. That’s my favorite part of our kitchen! When we do our renovation, that’s one of the elements that will be staying. Thank you for sharing the Chateau tour! I’m just as in awe as you are-such amazing inspiration packed into every room. I’d love to visit a place like that in person. Jaw dropping, stunning views everywhere you turn. Yay for the built-ins! I can’t wait to see the entire space pulled together. You’re close to the finish line Sarah! “Where The Crawdads Sing” was definitely not what I would typically go for, but I loved every minute of it. They’re making a movie?? I’ll be on the lookout for that! I’m a massive Stephen King fan, and he’s dropped quite a few new titles this year that are on my list. I’ve also been wanting to read “Song of Achilles” and “Circe” …alas my list of must-reads is far longer than the amount of time I actually have for reading, haha. September is coming to a lovely close, and my little guy turns 8 on Sunday. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend-I’m off to read the paint post! Xo

    1. I love your fall bucket list, Lauren! I’ve never been to SoCal during those months, but now it’s definitely on my list. Can I just join your family adventure? It sounds pretty epic! You named all of my favorite October movies. If I had to choose Halloween specific movies, my top two would definitely be Casper and Hocus Pocus. Ooook- your pumpkin maze sounds incredible. Live music?! Food trucks?! Sign me up. We used to love visiting Haunted Houses (the real kind, hah), but we haven’t done one in years. That sounds fun though! And of course- bring on the birthday celebrations!! Fall birthdays are the best (of course I’m biased). I’m looking forward to High Point. This will be my first time really going on my own with my own company. I’ve always went with design firms I worked for or have been asked to visit for press, but I’m looking forward to doing it my way this time around, tackling the showroom tours in whatever order I please, lol! It feels like a milestone of sorts. I’m also very into the color of the year- awesome pick by SW this year! I loved Where the Crawdads Sing… such a great book. Yes!! Reese Witherspoon’s production company picked it up for a movie- it’s coming out in June, I believe. I always try to read the books before I watch the movies, because it’s interesting to see how they’re interpreted and who they choose to play each role. I added your books to my list- I haven’t read either of those. Thank you for sharing! I hope you have an amazing weekend celebrating your youngest 8th birthday- that’s so special!! Enjoy! xo

  5. You are welcome to join us anytime Sarah! We’d adore having you-it really is the best, without a doubt! Great minds think alike; those are my favorite two Halloween movies, but I can never forget Practical Magic. I’m crossing my fingers for signed, hard bound leather editions of “Practical Magic” and “The Rules of Magic” for my birthday. I’ve dropped the hints (and the links), now it’s up to the universe. Lol. Have an awesome weekend!

    1. You are the sweetest! Ahhhh, HOW could I forget Practical Magic?! That one is also in my top three, and I don’t think I’ve ever watched The Rules of Magic. It’s on my must watch list, now! Ha!
