My Go-To Resource for Custom Holiday Cards

This weekend I’m decorating our house for the holidays… the mood has finally struck. I’m feeling behind after being away last week, but I’m thanking myself for knocking our Christmas cards off the list early this year! Consider this your annual reminder to get your holiday cards ordered, if those are something you enjoy sending every season. It’s a tradition I very much look forward to! Living far away from the majority of our friends & family, it’s a fun way to keep in touch and let loved ones know we’re thinking of them. Click through for a peek at ours this year, along with my top classic photo card picks from Minted- and I’ve got a 20% off code for you, too! It applies to gift wrap and tags, as well.

Our 2025 Holiday Cards from Minted with Discount Code

I’ve been a Minted partner for five years, so my cards were gifted. Thank you supporting the brands I love and enjoy working with year after year!

We’ve been ordering our cards from Minted for well over a decade- long before I began partnering with them, and they really do have the best selection. This year, I even added some fun accessories to make the job easier. Whip up a batch of my Nan’s beloved classic butter sugar cookies, pour yourself a cup of coffee, pull out your holiday decorations, and get those cards ordered friends! I’ve got some tips for you…

A Fun Holiday Tradition

Addressing Holiday Cards on Sage Green Envelopes

Emmett and I have been saving & sending holiday cards since we were married. It’s one of my favorite holiday traditions. Cards are such a lovely way to keep in touch and are fun to look back upon. I keep all of our old cards in a box, and I flip through them every holiday. Do you send holiday cards each year?

My Favorite Classic Cards from Minted & A Promo Code

Classic Holiday Cards from Minted

This year, I opted for a simple overlap design because I liked the simplicity alongside our busy fall foliage photo, but here are some other favorite photo card options I saved. Use my code TUESDAYHOLIDAY20 for 20% off Minted stationery and gifts, plus free shipping. Valid through 12/31/2025.

You know me- I prefer the traditional and classic options. You can customize the text, imagery, the color, envelopes, and even the finish of each card. I like that about Minted… they’re easy to make your own with customization. We usually choose or plan our photo first, then I select a cohesive card design once we have the image…

Choosing a Photo

2025 Gibsons Room for Tuesday Holiday Card Portrait

We always take our own holiday card photos (with a tripod and self timer)… it makes it fun and memorable! You may recognize this year’s photo from our Polywood adirondack chair post. This one turned out too good not to use. We wanted to take a photo at the cabin, but this was much easier and second best.

My advice for holiday photos? Don’t overcomplicate it. We propped up my phone, set the self timer, and tossed a treat in that direction to get the dogs to look, ha. Kudos if you schedule a professional family photo session, but believe me when I say- it’s not necessary. Scroll your albums and travels from the past year for any of your favorites, or take a spontaneous picture, like we did. Selfies even work! It’s part of the fun.

Creative Holiday Card Extras

This year, I also added some extras to my cart… gift wrap and tags were an easy addition (my 20% off code works for all of it)! They have all sorts of options… even stamps!

FAQ

Can you link your return address stamp?

Happy to! We have this one… a simple three-line option. It’s a timeless and easy pick if you don’t want to bother with ink pads.

How many cards do you typically mail out?

We typically mail anywhere from 70-100 cards each holiday season… which seems like a feasible, yet not overwhelming amount.

  1. Good morning! OMG. The dogs’ smiles?! Their teefs? I am dead. Most photos involving Jason are pure chaos, so I’m envious. Ha. I also might be a bit jealous of your commitment to this thoughtful tradition. I love the concept, but I’ve never mustered the focus for this particular task. I adore receiving cards though, so that just makes me a heel. 🤦🏻 What’s not to love? Adorable picture, beautiful card, coordinating envelope, colorful pens, custom stamps. Wax seals! Minted really does have a jillion gorg options. Seriously, three minutes of scrolling, and I’ve seen *dozens* I might choose. I enjoy perusing all of their products. I actually wish we could solidify our menu early enough (one of these years!) to have it printed for Thanksgiving. So fancy and profesh. Speaking of which, so fun to hear you’re hosting this year. Here’s hoping you kick that damnable virus, so you can begin enjoying the season! Cheers to feeling better, friend!💜

    1. It’s the teefs! Haha! They get me every time. This is definitely the one tradition we’re committed to, ha. It’s fun! Snail mail is my favorite. Hosting a tiny Thanksgiving was so fun this year! That might be my new thing… only two people are invited, lol. The damnable virus turned pneumonia, ugh. What a rough November in our house. December will surely be better- putting that out into the universe! xo

  2. Customized and personalized Christmas cards are so incredibly special. And yours are exceptionally beautiful Sarah! The shot you captured is gorgeous 😍 I’m always so amazed the pups are so willing and seem to have the perfect poses for the camera. Super SWEET! I also love the plaid frame you chose, works perfectly with the family room, and an incredible cozy vibe indeed 🐶❤️ 🐶
We purchased a tripod last year to take family photos as we were always struggling in getting the iPhone properly placed. We did get some cute photos last Christmas as a result and I ordered photo cards in January, so for a change I’m actually ahead on the card front for the first time ever.
Love the cards Sarah and such stunning details with personalized stamps as well as wax seals. So very pretty!
Looking forward in seeing your beautiful home all decorated for the holidays, always an inspiration to us all! Xo

    1. I think so too, Colleen! Thank you. We really enjoy this holiday tradition. I’ve got one with your name on it :) You’re going to have some darling photos next year with your grand baby!

  3. Stopping in to say a quick hello, and tell you that I adore your holiday cards every year! The background you selected for this one is gorgeous. I’ve never used Minted, but you’ve made a strong case for snapping an impromptu photo and going with it. I’ll have to give Minted a try. Flooring install is my current focus, and so far it’s going well. I hope everyone has a fantastic day!

    1. Hi Lauren! Thank you! This year we kept it quick and simple. I need to start addressing them and get them in the mail soon. Minted has always been fantastic for us… 10/10 recommend!

  4. I love holiday cards, and I hope everyone enjoys getting them. Even in this day of over posting and digital communication, there is nothing like a real card in the mail. I love hand addressing each envelope and thinking about the recipient. Minted has beautiful cards, I wish I saw your code before I went the canva route. Our photo sesh was a disaster (just a friend and a 2 minute porch pose, with a difficult 6 yo) but it will be one to remember. I don’t do all the holiday traditions, but I will always do holiday cards. And this year, we use some photos from our summer photo shoot and made book marks for the kids to hand out!

    1. Me too, Julie! Snail mail is my favorite. It feels so much more special than a text, phone call or digital message. I wish I would have posted sooner- sorry you missed my code. Hopefully, they’ll share one with me again next year… so keep it in mind! Sometimes the disastrous photo sessions yield the best memories, ha. I’m sure they turned out cute (or funny)! Same here… we will always stick to our holiday card tradition. I love your idea of book marks for the kids! Thanks for sharing. Happy Holidays!

  5. Like you, Sarah, we will always, always do holiday cards! Not sure which I love more, giving or receiving them. (Ok, probably giving them. ;-D) I’d really like to do “wax” seals this year, but am wondering if they would need to be hand canceled. Have you had to add extra postage or have them hand canceled even if they aren’t real wax and might crack and/or add a good bit of weight? Always love your cards and this year is no exception. Those snowflake stamps look they were made for you, too!

    1. You have the best holiday cards, Anne! For the wax seals, it depends on your card size and weight. Depending on where you’re starting, they could push it over the edge for extra postage. I’d recommend taking it into the post office to check beforehand (just to make sure they’re good). I haven’t had any crack (for the real, or sticky ones). Hope you’re having a happy holiday season!!

  6. Good morning!! This is timely, as I have yet to order our cards. I get photos back on Sunday- fingers crossed everyone’s eyes are open, ha!! It’s been awhile since we’ve had our family photos taken, but I’m very excited to send cards this year. Thank you for reminding me about Minted!

    1. Did you grab your cards? I need to address mine this week! I mailed birthday cards to my nieces and nephews last month and they took 3-4 weeks to arrive. Not sure what’s going on with our local post system, but now I’m nervous about these arriving.

  7. One of my favorite families keeps their Christmas cards from friends in a basket near the dinner table. At meal time the pull out the next card from the basket and pray for the family who sent the card.
