Custom Wallpaper to Match Any Sherwin Williams Paint Color
As we’re settling in as a family of three, I’m getting back to the blog and questions about our most recent renovation… the nursery. For that room, I came across a resource that completely changed how I shop for wallpaper. Instead of choosing the wallpaper first, then color matching the paint- I discovered custom wallpaper you can color match to any Sherwin-Williams paint color. If you’re trying to color drench or design a monochromatic space, you already know how important it is to get an EXACT paint color match, so when I found a brand that lets you color match wallpaper to paint, I knew I had to order samples. Long story short, I was impressed and the nursery felt like the perfect place to color match the wallpaper to the paint swatch I had my heart set on- Lemon Verbena (although I tested lots of green hues). It turned out so beautiful, I knew I had to share this new-to-me wallpaper source… click through for the details!

Why Color Match Your Paint & Wallpaper?
Most wallpaper is created in fixed colorways. You fall in love with a pattern, then spend way too long trying to make the colors work with your space. That’s where things usually get complicated… you either adjust your paint color to accommodate the wallpaper or you compromise on something that feels slightly off. Custom wallpaper flips that process. Instead of designing around limitations, you get to start with your paint color and build from there. That one shift makes a huge difference- especially if you’re aiming for a monochromatic, color drenched look. I like having that thread of cohesion in design.

Testing Livette’s Wallpaper
I stumbled upon Livette’s Wallpaper by accident. You can custom match their papers to any Sherwin-Williams paint color. You submit the exact paint name or code, and they adjust the design to coordinate. They also offer both traditional pasted wallpaper and peel and stick… which gives you flexibility depending on your project. I ordered samples of both, just because I was curious. Their peel and stick papers have a heavier weight and subtle texture to them, while the pasted paper is perfectly smooth- both are great quality (and I’ve ordered my fair share of high-end, designer wallpaper). I also ordered multiple paint colors to test the accuracy of their color matching. I had my heart set on Sherwin-Williams Lemon Verbena, so it wasn’t surprising that was the swatch I ended up choosing for the nursery.

How to Order Custom Colored Matched Wallpaper
Starting with paint is key. If you select your wallpaper first, you lose the advantage of customization. Here’s how I do it, as an interior designer…
- Choose your Sherwin-Williams paint color first (I highly recommend testing swatches).
- Select a pattern that fits your aesthetic… they have some beautiful options to choose from.
- Order a wallpaper sample to test in your room. Livette’s samples are really large (over 20″ x 20″).
- Decide between peel and stick or traditional installation.
- Place your order, and don’t forget to include overage and consider pattern repeat.

Some of My Top Pattern Picks

I wanted to share some of my top pattern choices from Livette’s. If you’re looking for timeless or classic wallpaper swatches that won’t go out of style and can be color matched… these are at the top of my list. All of them can be ordered in any Sherwin-Williams paint color you like- and in the reverse of the pattern!

Traditional Wallpaper vs Peel and Stick
If you’re planning something long term, I always lean toward traditional wallpaper. The finish is more refined, and it tends to hold up better over time. Peel and stick has its place, especially for rentals or lower commitment projects, but it’s not always the best choice if you want that elevated, seamless look. Traditional wallpaper looks more tailored. It installs cleaner, wears better, and feels more intentional. If you’re investing in custom wallpaper to match your paint color, it makes sense to pair it with the right application method.

How I Used It in Our Nursery
For the nursery, I knew I wanted something soft, organic, and tonal… nothing too high contrast or busy. Just a space that felt calm and cohesive. I started with a Sherwin-Williams paint color I already loved and used that as the anchor for the entire room. Instead of bringing in contrast with wallpaper, I chose a subtle pattern and had it matched to the same color. The result feels layered without being loud. It almost reads as texture instead of pattern, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The walls feel enveloping in the best way. Everything flows together, feels calm, and the space feels intentional and tailored.

Questions?
It varies depending on the material- peel and stick versus traditional pasted rolls. Livette’s actually has a section on their website that gives specs and compares the different materials. Check it out here.
I actually made those… each is a plaster relief of sentimental flowers from our infertility journey. I shared the tutorial here- DIY Floral Plaster Relief Art with Pressed Flowers.
Within each wallpaper listing, you’ll find a dropdown to select the size and material. From there, click 19” x 19” sample for both peel & stick materials, or 25” x 20” sample for the traditional, and 24″ x 20″ sample for the commercial grade material. They have lots of options… I sampled all of them, mostly out of curiosity!

Good morning! What an amazing resource you found Sarah. I typically browse wallpaper, and frequently find patterns I love, but often times I don’t love the color available for said patterns. This solves that problem, and I love that they offer the reverse as an option as well! After browsing the site, there are quite a few awesome options- your selections are outstanding choices. I’m always amazed at the vast amount of options. I hope you’re enjoying all the time with baby girl in her gorgeous nursery!!
