Nursery Reveal: A Timeless Room for Baby Girl
I’ve been waiting a long time to share this space with you! This nursery reveal feels especially meaningful, not just because of the design, but because of everything it took to get here. It’s equal parts emotional and exciting. I wanted this room to feel calm, classic, layered, and give our girl a space to grow into… nothing too trendy. Today, I’m sharing all the details, design decisions, and sources! Click through for our nursery reveal and to tour a timeless room for baby girl.

If you missed our initial pregnancy announcement or want to hear a bit more about our infertility journey, you can read about it in this post: Our Nursery Makeover and Design Plans for Baby Gibson. Otherwise, scroll on to see the nursery!
Before & After
This room has come a long way! Before, it was a fairly blank slate with good bones but zero personality. The layout worked, but it lacked character and functionality. We previously used this space as a guest bedroom, but because it’s the closest bedroom to our primary, it was the best fit for the nursery. As a reminder, here are some more images showing where we started…
The after feels like a completely different room. It’s cozy, tailored, and purposeful. The built-ins anchor the space, while the softer elements like textiles and lighting keep it from feeling too rigid. If you’re debating whether built-ins are worth it in a nursery, I’d say absolutely. They changed the entire space and added so much functional storage…
Built-In Window Seat

The built-in window seat might be my favorite feature in the entire room. It was also my starting point when designing this space. It adds architectural interest, extra storage, and additional seating. It also feels like every child’s dream… to have a perch to look out the window and play (or maybe that’s just my own wishful thinking from childhood?). Either way, it adds personality and balances the millwork in this room. I also love having multiple zones in a nursery. It makes the room feel more flexible and less like everything revolves around one chair or a crib.
We designed the seat with hidden storage for blankets and most likely- toys. The pull out drawers add plenty of closed storage, but I also really love the open shelving for books. This wall is one of those features that will grow with her, which was a big priority for me. It adds visual weight to the room, creating hidden storage without clutter, and adds secondary seating.

The Changing Station

Function definitely led this area. The changing station is one of the most used spots in a nursery, so I wanted to make sure it felt functional, beautiful, and not too precious. Everything we need is within arm’s reach, which was a non-negotiable for me. Instead of a traditional changing table, I found a vintage dresser in need of a makeover (here’s how to paint a dresser like a pro). I added a wipeable changing pad to the top, along with a diaper caddy and an existing lamp.
Above the dresser, I installed floral plaster relief intaglios. I saved and pressed flowers from our infertility journey, and decided to turn them into meaningful art. They really balance this vignette while adding a special (and dimensional) layer. My initial design plan did not include a floral or wildflower theme, but as things evolved- it organically happened.

The Swivel Glider

This is where I expect to spend a LOT of time. I ordered a highly rated glider recliner from Oilo that looks more like a living room swivel chair than typical nursery seating. Comfort was my main priority here… this chair swivels, glides, reclines, is incredibly comfortable- and it’s quiet. I went with a performance bouclé fabric that many of my friends have and recommend. If you’re deciding where to invest in a nursery, this is one of the pieces I would not cut corners on.

I stumbled upon this darling well-made, budget-friendly side table from Amazon. It will make an easy surface for us to rest items while in the glider. I also brought up my tried and true curves floor lamp from the formal living room. Its new permanent place will be here in the nursery. I love that it has a dimmer!

Built-In Closet

The built-in closet wasn’t apart of my initial design plan. I assumed we’d just rework the existing closet with bifold doors, but Emmett had a plan of his own. He priced out the replacement closet doors and determined a built-in closet with cabinet faces and drawers would be less expensive and far more functional, so we worked in that direction.
We took a custom approach here, and I am so glad we did. A standard closet rarely works for baby storage. Everything is smaller, and you end up wasting vertical space. All of our closet rods can be moved, as she grows. By adding multiple hanging levels, drawers, and shelving, we maximized every inch. I also love the way the wall of cabinetry looks, balancing the built-ins across the room.

Of course we also swapped the door into this space. As we renovate each room in our home, we update the door. Here’s how to order and replace an interior door, and of course- we installed our favorite brass door hardware as the finishing touch.
The Crib

To be honest, there are a lot of ugly baby cribs on the market, but this is not one of them. I wanted one that looked classic, traditional, and would convert into a toddler bed as she grows. I landed on the Harlow convertible crib. I wanted something that felt timeless, safe, and versatile enough to transition with different bedding and styling over time.
We centered the crib on the shorter wall so it feels intentional, but isn’t the focal point of the room. A quick design tip? Keep the area above the crib simple. You don’t need a gallery wall here… sometimes allowing negative space around the crib is the best option. It’s safe and allows the furniture to speak for itself. We did add an adorable, crocheted horse mobile one of our friends gifted us.

Questions?
Of course! We’ve been using these throughout our house as we update each room. Here are my designer tips for making outlets and light switch plates look better!
Lemon Verbena from Sherwin-Williams.
I love the look… it also feels like a fun shelf she can use to style or display stuffies, trophies, or treasures as she grows. It felt like a fun millwork addition- especially in a kids room.
I’m working on a separate post for the wallpaper, because I discovered Livette’s Wallpaper! You can color match their papers (traditional pasted or peel-and-stick) to any Sherwin-Williams paint color for a perfect match. We used their botanical wildflower wallpaper (matched to Lemon Verbena).
Both of those are vintage and hold sentimental value. I actually designed the entire room around the smaller one- it inspired the color palette for the nursery.
Of course! We’re officially on baby watch and she could come at any time.

This room holds so much more than design decisions. It represents hope, patience, and a chapter we’ve been waiting a long time to step into. I cannot wait to bring our baby girl home to this space and start making memories here! It’s also a room Emmett and I are very proud of, so thanks for sharing our excitement. It includes one of my favorite design plans, stunning millwork, and excellent craftsmanship. I can’t wait to see how our girl grows into this room and make it her own. I hope it’s a space that feels inspiring and allows her to be creative. Thank you for following along with our journey. It means more than you know!

It shows how much you love her already. It’s gorgeous!
Sarah and Emmett, as always you have outdone yourselves!! This little princess is very lucky to have you as parents🩷. The room is beautiful!!! May God bless you all.
It’s perfection Sarah! Congratulations! 💖
It’s such a beautiful room and a wonderful space to start your next chapter together. Congratulations, cannot wait to meet your little girl!
Sarah! Her room is so special. I got a little lump in my throat seeing the two stuffed dogs on the top shelf that look like your pups. Many memories will be made in this room. So excited for you an Emmett ❤️
I adore every ounce of what you’ve done with this room! The color and the wallpaper sing together. I’m also *obsessed* with the shelf around the room! Such a fun and unique idea. My two favorite elements are the built-ins and the closet. You’ve done with the built-ins what I dream of doing for Brooke’s room. The window seat is so special, and you’re not the only one who always wanted one as a kid! I love all the added storage this area provides and that most kid spaces lack. On to the closet; THIS is how all closets should be! In highschool we lived in a 1950’s rambler- all the closets were like this (just not as beautiful). Why they stopped making closets this way, I’ll never understand. Well done Emmett!!! You turned this space into an absolute dream for a kid- every last detail is special, and I know you’ll have so many lovely memories in this space. Cheers to the new chapter ahead, the long journey to get here, and the upcoming birth of your baby girl!! So excited for you both. Xoxo
Absolutely stunning! So many lovely details! Window seat, builtins intaglio and the stuffed dogs – sigh! So much love went into this room. Sending love to all of you!
Did you make or buy the intaglios? So sweet!
It came out so beautifully! I love the bookshelves and would’ve coveted those and the window seat if they were in a friend’s room growing up! It will be so fun for her to style all of the shelving as she ages, and for you to see what she displays at each stage.
I love it. The built ins are swoon worthy. I always wanted a window seat as a kid. The Glider looks so comfy. I wouldn’t have though you could get that much texture in a performance fabric. I also love the green, green was my favorite color as a kid, and I still really like it. I’ve contemplated Green cabinetry in my kitchen but I’m afraid it would be too unique if I needed to sell.
What a precious room for a very special baby girl!! I’m so very excited for you both!
the room is beautiful. congratulations and best wishes.
best regards, w. scott
What a special space! The love and intention shines through every detail, from the meaningful art and design to the meticulous craftsmanship. I adore the color palette and the accidental wildflower theme. I can easily envision years of playing, napping, reading, dreaming, and growing within these four walls. Can’t wait for the news of BG’s actual arrival!!! A million congrats, Sarah and Emmett!💜💚🥰
Just absolute perfection – it’s stunning. The biggest congratulations and warmest wishes for a safe delivery and some very happy (if sleepless) days and nights ahead. xxxx
Holy Smokes, this room is stunning. I’ll volunteer to become nanny, just to spend some time there 😊 Wishing you all a safe arrival of little Gibson.
So beautiful! I’m sure it feels like a big relief to have it done! Wishing you all the best as you start this new adventure
Stunning. Magical. Comfy. She’s a lucky girl!!
Everything is perfect. Love, love, love, this room.
What a wonderful room. You can just feel the love you already have for your new baby and the new life you will have. Thank you for sharing!
