Spring Appliance Collection with Big Chill

I am beyond excited to get back to work today and announce a dream partnership I’ve been keeping secret for awhile now. I’ve partnered with Big Chill to offer a curated and timeless palette for their appliances this spring! Any colors from my curated collection are $400 off this season- which applies to all of their classic appliances and variations (ranges, refrigerators, range hoods, dishwashers, etc). I’d love to tell you more about it, share my design philosophy behind this one, and give you a peek at how I landed on four historic looking colors.

Big Chill Appliances

I first discovered Big Chill shortly after our GE Cafe range began to give us problems (not long after we renovated our kitchen). I asked for recommendations for reliable, professional, and beautiful appliances as we were saving up to someday switch. Many messages flooded my inbox with a brand I had heard of, but never researched… Big Chill. The messages rolling into my inbox included common words, like: dependable, made in the US, heavy duty, consistent, built to last, no issues, highly recommend, have had for years, etc. I was intrigued. I did my own research and eventually decided a range from Big Chill would be well suited for our home, in terms of functionality and aesthetic. Fast forward a few years later, as we were purchasing our range- Big Chill reached out and asked if I had any interest in helping design and curate a collection for spring. The designer and color theorist in me was absolutely thrilled, and of course I’m excited to share the palette with you today.

Here’s what Big Chill had to say about the collection… which is exactly what I hoped to achieve with the palette.

We are thrilled to introduce the 2024 Spring Edit, a collaboration with award winning interior designer, Sarah Gibson of Room for Tuesday. This Utah-based designer emphasizes classic style for an aesthetic that will withstand the test of time. Currently undertaking her third home renovation project, Sarah curated this color palette inspired by historic colors that will never go out of style – an intersection of updated, yet traditional design. As a nod to timeless kitchens of the past, the Spring Edit custom colors were carefully selected to serve as a classic extension to any home or aesthetic.

My Curated Collection

My collection is comprised of four classic colors that will withstand the test of time. Given their appliances are built to last, so should the design. When I purchase an expensive appliance, I want to enjoy it for years to come… and while these are totally customizable- I wanted to select colors that feel timeless and are capable of melding with any aesthetic for the long haul.

The colors I’ve selected also work with warm or cool metals. This is key because the metal accents and hardware on these appliances are stunning and come in an array of materials: copper, brass, nickel, and chrome. Anything can be mixed and matched for a timeless look!

Any color from my collection can be applied to any classic appliance: ranges, refrigerators, hoods, or dishwashers… and there are variations and multiple sizes of each. No matter which appliance you like, if you choose a color from my collection- you’ll automatically receive $400 off for the duration of the season.

Granite Grey

Obviously this color struck me because it’s an exact match to my kitchen cabinetry. Bold, yet neutral, Granite Grey is the perfect way to add a timeless splash of subtle navy to any kitchen. With almost a green undertone (like my kitchen cabinetry), this cool dark hue includes depth, interest, and instantly adds character.

Pigeon Blue

Evocative of antique French blue hues of the past, Pigeon Blue is a true classic that nods to refined luxury with plenty of character. This coastal color adds the perfect splash of color to any kitchen with a high-end designerly look. I want something in this color so badly! It also looks fabulous paired alongside their copper accents.

Oyster White

As seen in our basement bar reveal… the perfect creamy neutral, Oyster White, easily adds warmth, sophistication, and an alluring brightness to kitchen appliances. It is versatile, elegant, pairs well with any aesthetic, and is sure to outlive any trend- growing with you as your aesthetic evolves… a truly timeless color and classic complement. I knew I had to choose a really good color for my fellow neutral lovers!

Olive Green

Olive Green can be paired alongside warm or cool colors, making it a versatile option for any appliance. While this historic green pairs well with a wide range of color palettes, it is the perfect way to add classic interest to a neutral kitchen.

FAQ

How is the refrigerator hardware?

It’s very nice! It’s decorative, but impactful. I feel it gives the fridge an antique or vintage look, giving you the opportunity to mix metals in the kitchen.

How do you like the range?

Emmett & I both love it! Given I gave such a detailed look at our previous range, I felt our current stove deserved the same attention and a dedicated blog post for an accurate comparison… that’s coming soon! That said, I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.

What was wrong with your previous range?

I went into all the details here: An Honest Review of the GE Cafe Range.

This collection and palette feels so YOU!

Thank you so much! I really wanted my personal design aesthetic to translate, so I’m glad to hear it shows. I love and would use any of these colors in my home.

  1. Good morning! What a fantastic, genius partnership! I discovered Big Chill years ago because of their fun Retro line, but this Classic collection is unbelievably gorgeous. Finally an alternative to a blah stainless refrigerator! Your colors though? Sheer perfection! I can absolutely envision each hue as the crowning glory in a multitude of designs. (Why, yes, I will be creating fantasy kitchen moodboards all morning. Thanks for asking.) Of course, I fully endorse chromatic abandon and have long admired (coveted really) vibrant ranges. What feels so special about your collection though is the sophisticated richness and complex depth. They’re bold without conjuring bumper cars. (do those still exist?) Honestly, my only problem would be choosing a favorite! I adore the protean quality of Granite Grey, the perfect navy-teal-slate. For someone who was thinking black, but a million times more interesting. Although never a neutral girl, I cannot deny the creamy dreamy French vanilla lusciousness of Oyster White. Your basement bar perfectly showcases it. I think I’m most impressed with Pigeon Blue. Hitting the sweet spot between blue and gray is tough! Saturated, but not “nursery.” Not too pastel or purple-y. Seriously, Sarah, you nailed this one. If I absolutely must decide, my kitchen would feature the Olive Green. I might be outmatched by its luxurious warmth, but I’d do my best to live up to its refined magnificence.🤣 Although I am clearly besotted with the colors, I’m also impressed with the broad selection of sizes and hardware finishes. Not to mention, coordinating range hoods! I am especially eager to hear all the performance details too. Although I’m besotted with their appearance, we buy appliances for their function! I know I can count on you for an honest appraisal. Again, congratulations on such a phenomenal collaboration! Someone at Big Chill recognizes talent.💜 Happy first Wednesday of Spring!☀️

Thank you, Peggi! I’m really super excited about this one- and flattered. I’ve totally fallen in love with our new range and am super proud to have my name associated with their amazing appliances. You also know color selection is my favorite, ha. It was a perfect match! I had a feeling Pigeon Blue would be your fave! I’m finally back to baking again (now that I have an oven that works), which feels really nice. Their retro collection is also really cool- I like that they have something for every aesthetic. Happy Spring, indeed! Thanks for being so excited with me for this! xo

  2. Congratulations are due for such a huge collaboration! You knocked it out of the park Sarah! I’ve heard of Big Chill, but had never looked into their appliances. When you posted about the collab, I instantly clicked to check them out and fell in love. Is it acceptable to describe these as yummy?? Because they are! The details are what grab me- the metal accents offer such a beautiful contrast to the colors; instant, high impact aesthetics. You know already I adore the colors you’ve selected, but I’m so drawn to the olive green. Functionally speaking, some of the features are just SMART; the water dispenser being hidden inside the fridge, and the oversized deli drawer that is also full pull-out. 🤯 Do you know the interior capacity of the 36” range? I noticed the website doesn’t list that on any of the specifications for their ranges. Can you comfortably utilize three oven racks? These appliances are a fantastic, aesthetically pleasing alternative to panel ready options. Again, your color selections are superb! Cheers to a gorgeous collaboration, and a beautiful spring Wednesday!

    1. Sarah Gibson says:

Thank you so much, Lauren! They really are so beautiful. I feel flattered that they asked me to work with them. THE GREEN… I’ve gotta find a place for that color in my house! It’s my favorite. I do appreciate how functional and easy the appliances are. No over the top bells or whistles, but all the necessities are super well done (unlike my last range). Sometimes simple is best! I don’t know the exact cubic capacity, but I’d be happy to measure for you. It seems to be the same size as our previous range. Three racks work well and they slide and adjust. Thanks for sharing my excitement about this one :) You’re the best!

  3. Tina Puth says:

We just inherited my late grandmother’s home and we are fixing it up and updating it. My dream is to have custom appliances that match the cabinets. Where we are replacing the cabinets we needed a dumpster rental to get rid of all the waste. I didn’t know where to start to look for appliances but I saved this to my favorites to use as a resource during the process. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Sarah Gibson says:

Thank you so much, Tina! Good luck with your grandmother’s home renovation… that is so special!

  4. Oh my gosh, congrats!! It’s a stunning palette, and beautiful appliances! So awesome that you got to do this!

  5. AMAZING, Sarah!! Congratulations on such a perfect collab—so well deserved and they are incredibly lucky to have your incredible eye and impeccable taste. 🤎
