Yesterday I shared Laurie Anne’s bedroom makeover, and today I’m back with the bathroom reveal! I figured since we were tackling her master bedroom, we might as well call it a “master suite makeover” and address the bath too. We had a little bit of the budget leftover and thought it also deserved some attention, so it worked out perfectly. Click through for the before images, paint swatches, sources, and to see how it looks now.

Like the bedroom makeover, let’s start with a before image…
Ready for the after? We painted the space, swapped out some hardware, plumbing fixtures, and textiles. It looks a lot better and most importantly- it’s cohesive with the new bedroom design.
Just like the master, we stuck with the same color palette, Minimalist, which reflected Laurie Anne’s personality after taking the Sherwin-Williams ColorSnap® Color ID quiz. We ended up using Reflection SW 7661 on the walls, as well as the baseboards (just in a different finish). We also used Snowbound SW 7004.
As a reminder, the bathroom lives behind the sliding door in the master bedroom. The bathroom is on the smaller side, but we tried to pack as much function and design into the space as we could on a budget (in a time crunch).
You know me… one of my pet peeves is a short shower curtain. After painting, it was one of the first things I swapped. I found this gorgeous, extra long hotel waffle weave curtain that better fit the space.
I also added a rug with more personality. Remember when I eluded to buying multiple rugs from this vintage Etsy roundup? Well, this was one of them! I shipped it straight to Phoenix for the makeover. It’s really beautiful in person.
I absolutely love the soft blue wall color. Initially, the space was white and since there is no natural light in the bathroom, it felt kind of dingy and drab. The room was really begging for a little splash of color on the walls!
We also decided to get rid of the shelving around the toilet. Even though it’s a small space and storage seems like a good idea- it was really just collecting decorative “stuff” and I didn’t love the look of it. I gave Laurie Anne and Taylor the option of floating shelves instead, but we decided to keep it minimal and clean with nude art. Again- their art collection is the BEST. Laurie Anne painted the nude back in college. She’s so talented! We ran out of time, but I gave them the idea to add a gallery light or sconce above the art. They might do that down the road. Here is what the toilet wall looked like before…
This is what it looks like now… a lot better! PS- Laurie Anne made all of the ceramics in the bedroom and bathroom- including that pretty bath tray. She is a true artist and it was fun to “shop” her house. She has treasures stashed away everywhere- tucked into closets, cabinets, in boxes in the garage, and anywhere in between.
We also swapped the chrome plumbing fixtures for brass to warm up the shower. They look perfect with the classic white subway tile and soft blue walls! Obviously you guys already know I’m a big fan of this combo.
Also, like my guest bathroom, we bought the simple shower organizers I use and love! They look really nice sitting on the marble ledge at the back of Laurie Anne’s bathtub.
If you’re interested in sources, find a “Get the Look” collage below…

This is the view from the bathroom into the bedroom. I think the two spaces turned out really beautifully and I’m thrilled that Laurie Anne & Taylor are super happy with the end result. They’re already asking me to come back and help with the rest of their house. I’ve agreed to some friend trips and vacation time before being put to work again. Haha! What do you guys think of the bathroom?

August 28, 2019 at 4:52 amPerfect! You guys really accomplished tons in such a short time! Color is magical…and a beautiful vintage rug doesn’t hurt either! You definitely need more time on your next trip.
(So. I keep getting Nurturer on the color quiz. I even got Minimalist once which made me laugh. Trendsetter is definitely where I would put myself based on the description and the colors in my home. Regardless, all of the palettes are beautiful. And who can resist a quiz??)

August 28, 2019 at 8:25 amWe did and we do… need more time! I feel like it was all work, work, work, and I really wanted some fun relaxation time stuck in there somewhere. haha! Next time! I definitely don’t think you’re a minimalist, but I could certainly see the Trendsetter palette being right up your alley :)

August 28, 2019 at 6:05 amGood morning! This is a beautiful room refresh that hits all the right notes :) Quick question on the new shower curtain: do you also use a liner so the floor doesn’t get wet? Thanks!

August 28, 2019 at 8:29 amGood morning, Molly! Thank you so much for the nice comment :) We definitely use a shower curtain liner… it just didn’t arrive in time for the shoot (bummer, I know). It’s this one, if you’re interested in the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002EVOAIQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s04?ie=UTF8&psc=1

August 28, 2019 at 11:26 amI noticed that many of the items from the bathroom are from Amazon. Do you have any Amazon shopping tips? My home decor searches always come up with cheap options that aren’t the style I’m looking for!

August 28, 2019 at 11:41 amThis makeover made such a difference but feels so approachable! It would be awesome if you could do a post some time on swapping out plumbing fixtures without needing a plumber (I’m assuming). I haaaaaate the fixtures in our bathroom but I’m intimidated by how to pick out different fixtures that I can install in place without need a whole different vanity or shower setup.

August 29, 2019 at 8:19 amI love hearing that! I swapped out the plumbing fixtures- if you’re new to plumbing, there are lots of YouTube tutorials! It really just requires plumbers putty, plumbers tape, plumbing wrench, new fixtures, etc. Pretty easy to swap!
