Facebook Marketplace Finds : Kansas City, MO

Happy Friday, friends! It has been quite awhile since I’ve shared a Facebook Marketplace Finds post. Time to change that! This month I searched Kansas City, MO and couldn’t believe some of the low prices, designer finds, and sheer amount of lovely listings- a serious goldmine. Click through to check out my finds, and even if you’re not local to the area… remember to save items you like to hone your algorithm. It will serve you similar items based on your actual location.

I’ve been spending a lot of time on FBMP hunting for something specific for our basement renovation, so this post felt appropriately timed. My algorithm has been dialed, but I haven’t located what I need yet. Any guesses what I’m currently searching for? Here’s what I dug up in KC…

Photo disclaimer… I pulled the following images directly from Facebook Marketplace, so the size and quality of some isn’t the best.

Hekman Round Burl Table

Facebook Marketplace Finds : Kansas City, MO - roomfortuesday.com

This cute little table is only $150 and the shape is really charming… not to mention the burl wood top. Then again, you know I have a thing for this special pattern based on my burl bathroom vanity!

Gilded Mirror

I loathe when sellers don’t list dimensions, but for $20- I’ll let this one slide. I immediately loved this gilded mirror with the interesting frame and killer price tag. Twenty bucks? Sold!

Anything from Hickory Chair Co is heirloom quality in the furniture industry, coming directly from High Point, NC. This quality investment piece is worth the $799 ask, but depending on how motivated the seller is… you may be able to get it for less.

A fun modern find… another high-end designer interior brand name, Bernhardt! These swivel dining chairs would be really classic styled around a circular wood table. I know they’re comfy, too (I’ve sat in this same model).

Hammary Dresser with Marble Top

Facebook Marketplace Finds : Kansas City, MO - roomfortuesday.com

This cute dresser has some great details, but I’d definitely paint it in a glossy or flat finish (one extreme or the other). I could envision this in a dark hunter green, merlot, or navy. Right? It says it has a marble top, but double check the stone- I’m not totally convinced, based on the photos. If it’s not marble, you could probably get it for less!

Ethan Allen Coffee Table

Facebook Marketplace Finds : Kansas City, MO - roomfortuesday.com

Does this vintage Ethan Allen coffee table look familiar? It should because I have the same one in my formal living room! It’s exact. I did not pay nearly that much for ours, but perhaps the seller is willing to negotiate? Either way, it’s fun to see this floating around in the wild of the web.

Floral Print Designer Sofa

Facebook Marketplace Finds : Kansas City, MO - roomfortuesday.com

Last, but not least- I always like to include a wild card. This floral designer sofa has down cushions, amazing fabric (in my opinion), and a fantastic shape. If I had a cottage, I’d scoop this right up! Of course it could always be reupholstered if you hate the fabric.

FAQ

What is your most recent Facebook Marketplace purchase?

A leather barley twist bench!

What is the best way to negotiate on Facebook Marketplace?

First, see how long the item has been listed. If it’s brand new listing, a seller is less likely to negotiate. If it has been listed for some time, you’re free to proceed. Come from a place of kindness, be matter-of-fact, pose the negotiation as a question in a complete sentence, and always respond once the seller gets back with you. Example below:

Buyer: Hello, (Name)! I’m interested in (Item)… would you be willing to take $100?
Seller: I’m sorry- I’m firm on the price.
Buyer: No problem, thank you for the response and please let me know if it doesn’t sell and you’d consider my offer in the future. I’d appreciate it!

How long does it take for your algorithm to change or improve?

I’d say a few separate sessions of searching with intention… which could be as early as a day or two (at least in my experience).

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend ahead! I’ll be working on photographing our home for my annual holiday tour next week. I hope you’ll check back for that, at some point. I always want to cross some things off my to-do list, and get outside for at least a couple of hours. We’ve been getting snow in the mountains and the dogs would enjoy a hike. Cheers to that!

  1. Good morning! Some very beautiful, classic finds, indeed! I was going to guess that you’re looking for counter stools, but given the above selection, I’m thinking you need a coffee table to better fit with your new sectional! You found three lovely examples; not sure I could pick a favorite, but I think the price on the one like yours is sort of bananas. When sellers reference Chairish for comparison, you know you’re in trouble! I dig the little stone-topped dresser though. I actually might like the finish if it looks like goatskin or parchment in person. Also, people’s use of the word marble can be quite liberal. Ha. I don’t have room for a china hutch, but what a perfectly timeless piece; I especially noted the fretwork reminiscent of your office builtins! I don’t think we’re neat enough eaters for those light-colored chairs, but I love the modern look. My favorite find though is that gorgeous floral sofa! I’m into the exaggerated shape, and the back actually appears low enough to be an end-of-the-bed candidate. It certainly has a cottage vibe, but I would make it work in my collected interiors. Kansas City does not disappoint! Thanks for the algorithm boost. Getting out in the fresh air is definitely on our agenda this weekend. Unfortunately, they’re predicting an inversion, but the dogs don’t mind. We might drive up to the hot springs today; the elevation is usually enough to get above the gloom. Cheers to an active weekend and a delicious Pizza Friday! Have a good one, Sarah!💜

Hi Peggi! I think we’re going to keep our existing counter stools. I still like them even though they were a quick budget find! I am hunting for an ottoman for our sofa, but we were mostly hunting for a hutch- which I found and had Emmett pick up yesterday. Yay! Instead of using uppers in our basement kitchen, we’re going to modify a hutch that sits on the counter. I’m excited about it, and it will be lit- which will be so nice for a bar / basement vibe. Isn’t that floral sofa incredible?! KC was a really fun city to search… it’s no wonder Gwen finds so many good things there. We also were able to get outside this weekend, and enjoyed a snowy hike with the dogs. We had some inversion, too… so we also had to drive above it. I’m envious of your hot springs trips! Hope you went and got to enjoy some fresh (clean) air!! xox

  2. Ahh- FBMP finds! You know what that means? I get to deep dive today! I haven’t looked for awhile because the same stuff kept floating around. These finds are going to be fantastic for my algorithm. I’d say, based on the number of tables in this post, you’re searching for a vintage game table. The tables you’ve found are stunning- but my favorite is the burl coffee table. Every detail is perfection and the tray top is a favorite feature. The Hickory Co. chest of drawers is exquisite. I’ve been looking for something similar, with a few more drawers. Love the wood tone and hardware. The hutch is my favorite of the day! Those millions make me drool and the wood tone is delicious. I have long been searching to replace my hutch with something more my style- but the must haves after owning this one are almost impossible. This hutch checks every box except adjustable shelves- which I’d happily ignore. Ha! And the price?!!! Is this for real? I wish I lived in MO right now. Lol. We have a three day weekend and on my list is situating my outdoor plants for fall, making a batch of soup in my new Le Crueset stock pot, and switching up my fall decor. We still have Halloween up over here. 😝 Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Happy pizza Friday 🍕!

Yesss!! FBMP has been GOOD for me lately. We just grabbed a hutch for our basement kitchen last night and my feed has been looking really good. There were multiple items I wish I had a place for. Ha! Kinda hate when that happens. I’m not sure if we’ll have room for a game table now since we decided on the fireplace. That’s where it was going to go and it would be a tight squeeze. Maybe a small two seater! Hope you and the fam are enjoying your three day weekend! xo
