Facebook Marketplace Finds : Charleston, SC

Happy Friday, friends! It’s time for a new Facebook Marketplace Finds post, and this month I’m searching Charleston, South Carolina. I found and saved far more than ten items this time around, but I narrowed down my top picks for you. Click through to check out my finds, and even if you’re not local to the area- remember to save items you like to hone your algorithm. It will serve you similar things based on your actual location. Here’s to dialing it in! Seeing everyone’s spring break photos, I was feeling a bit left out… so for those who didn’t visit the ocean this spring, consider this a virtual thrifting trip the coast!

Ready to see what’s floating around Charleston and the surrounding areas? These are the best items I saved…

Photo disclaimer… I pulled the following images directly from Facebook Marketplace, so the size and quality of some isn’t the best.

Ethan Allen Chest

This Ethan Allen tallboy dresser is in good condition, and it has been listed for quite awhile. I’d make the seller an offer less than the listing price (which is $500). Hopefully they’re motivated to sell!

This darling gingham settee is listed as a “couch” but it looks more a like a daybed to me, with the bench seat… regardless, it’s super charming! It’s only $100 and reminds me of the furniture at Hotel Peter and Paul New Orleans.

  1. Good morning! With all the wind and rain recently, I have almost felt like I’m at the coast… Ha. I’ll take this virtual shopping trip instead. (Although, have you ever visited Charleston? It’s on my list!) As for your finds, wowza! Not a clinker in the bunch. I had a blue and white striped sofa eons ago, and it turns out I still dig that look. Especially for $300! Those RL dining chairs are perfectly worn and stunning. The color and the price are unbeatable. The gingham daybed is adorable! I’d love to replace a seen-better-days loveseat where I lounge with the dogs. That would be ideal. OMG. Stop the presses. Not to be redundant, but I have loved that Visual Comfort plaster chandelier forEVER!! Top five favorite light fixture. Hands down. (Don’t tell anyone, but I can’t resist a bit of whimsical wonderful.) In a purely practical vein, that bamboo patio set checks all the boxes. I like the burnt sugar hue and gator seat vibes. Extra points for arms on all the chairs! Charleston is serving quite a collection of goods! Now I’m excited to go check my area. Your comment about seeking *designer* items made me realize that’s a search term I have never used! I’ve tried “custom” only to be shown trucks and live edge tables.🙄 Speaking of searches, have you ever done New England? How about Boston? I imagine antiques should be plentiful there. In the meantime, cheers to a fab weekend! I think we’re expecting a little sunshine. I hope you’ve got continued celebrations in the plans; we’re firm believers in birthday week! Happy Pizza Friday, friends! 💜🍕☀️

Hi Peggi! It really has been super windy and rainy, oof. Where is that sunny spring weather we’ve been looking for? Hopefully it makes its way to stay soon. I LOVE Charleston. I have friends there and it’s always such a fun city visit. I think you’d love it. A striped sofa never goes out of style, IMO. That VC light fixture is among my top picks- the tulip shaped sconces are the prettiest. I definitely use the search term “designer” or even type in a specific designer / brand (Bernhardt, Henredon, Ethan Allen, Ralph Lauren, Hickory Chair, etc). Give it a go! New England always has the best FBMP feed- maybe I’ll search New England next month. We had a fun Italian dinner at a new restaurant last night to celebrate E’s birthday. This weekend, I think we’ll probably cross some pesky chores off the list, so we can start camping once the weather turns! Here’s to a happy pizza Friday, indeed! xo

  2. Good morning! A fantastic day for FBMP finds- my algorithm thanks you! The Ethan Allen chest is precisely what I’m looking for- or something similar. I adore the shape, simplicity, and size. I’ve been hunting for awhile for something like this in my area. Many have come up, but none in this condition. I also saved the VC chandelier; nothing like that ever pops up for me, and that one is stunning. I love the sculptural shape and the white plaster. While I’ve definitely been on marketplace quite a bit lately, I haven’t had a decent score in awhile. Partly because I’m being extra selective, but I must say, my algorithm is finely tuned. Here’s to hoping I’ll find something soon; I have more than a few items I’m searching for. How was your ski date? Happy pizza Friday friends!

    1. Sarah Gibson says:

Happy Friday, Lauren! I hope you’re able to find a chest or dresser soon- there have been some good ones floating around my area lately… and this morning and I went with a friend to the Alice Lane Warehouse sale, which was really fun. I scored a horse statue (no surprise there), an ottoman, and a console table. You’re due for a decent FBMP haul! Fingers crossed something amazing pops up soon :) Here’s to a good weekend ahead! Ski date was really fun (and surprisingly cold)- we’ve had icky weather here, so I’m itching for that sunny spring weather we had a taste of. Happy Easter weekend- hope you and the fam have a fun one ahead! xo
