It’s been awhile but we’re happy to be back with a new trend alert post for you guys – remember Sarah’s post on pedestal vases and planters last fall? For our second post we decided to focus on architectural staircases since we are seeing them everywhere (and we’re definitely not complaining about it). Stairs are no longer an afterthought when it comes to design. Lately we have been seeing staircases becoming more architectural and more of a focal point in homes. Materials such as wrought iron, brass, sculpted wood and more have been popping up in spaces and we’re loving the change. Continue reading to see some of our favorite looks and maybe feel inspired to spice up those “plain jane” stairs!
You definitely cannot go wrong with bold, black stairs. Also, not sure about you but it is pretty much my dream to have a spiral staircase in my home someday! This ultra modern steel staircase definitely makes a statement in an urban space.
I never thought to combine brass, perforated metal and tile, but this restaurant in Sydney did it to perfection! The interior of this place is so pretty I may just have to make a trip to Australia someday.
I absolutely love the shape of these wrought iron stair railings and the contrast they bring to the white walls. They add the perfect touch and make this space so much more interesting!
Last but not least, this cozy space below these winding stairs is so quaint and charming! Another great example of how to make a simple staircase easier on the eyes. Which of these trends are you loving the most? Tell us in the comments below! I’m actually planning my own staircase update… so stay tuned for that!
