Stocking a Guest Bathroom for Visitors

I’ve been talking about this for a month now, but I’m excited for my family to arrive and tomorrow is the big day! I figured this would be the perfect time to share how I stocked the guest bathroom for visitors. I’ll admit- I kind of went all out. I was just super excited to have a separate bathroom for our house guests to use. This is the first time we’ve ever been able to give our friends & family that luxury, and with our newly renovated guest bath– I just felt like embracing the spa / hotel concept. This entire list obviously isn’t necessary, but hopefully it will be helpful and you can pick & choose what best fits your situation when prepping for visitors! Let’s start with the obvious… plush, white bath towels fit for a spa! I’ve been using these towels for over a year now and they’re my absolute favorite. Over the past year, I’ve purchased two of these towel bundles and couldn’t be happier with how they’re holding up. All of our house guests comment on how soft they are. I love grabbing one after every shower… it’s the little things in life, like super soft towels, that make me happy.

Since multiple family members will be sharing this bathroom during their stay, I put robes in each of the guest room closets for them rather than on the towel hooks in the bathroom. If it would’ve been one person or a couple, I would’ve happily left the robes on the hooks, but I felt like the closets were a better option this time around… and a nice surprise! Who knows if they’ll even use them, but I enjoyed trying to think of every single thing.

If you’re wondering what is in the drawers… I filled each drawer with toiletries in case visitors forget anything. Mine and Emmett’s entire family is spread throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, and Indiana (we’re the oddballs out West)… when they fly in, we tell them to leave the big stuff at home. It just makes traveling so much easier and less stressful. We have everything they need, and if they forget something- they don’t have to worry. I picked up some disposable razors, shaving gel, and mini deodorant during my last trip to Target.

I also splurged on my very favorite bath products… bubble bath, bath salts, but most importantly- lotion. It is DRY in Utah and our family is used to humidity, so the climate out here can be hard on them. They’re constantly lathering up when they come visit. This lotion is one of my favorite scents!

While we’re on the bath topic, you already know I filled my matching shower containers with nice smelling shampoo, conditioner, and body wash! As for soap…

I prefer to get my bath soaps from World Market. They have the best selections and they look & smell so amazing! I swear, every time I go into that store, I come out with at least five soaps. Haha! It’s just really good. Please tell me there are other World Market soap fans out there?

In the name of all things pretty, I turned into a crazy person and decanted mouthwash. I’m waiting on little paper cups to arrive, but it feels fancy and fun! I’m not sure how functional or annoying it will be, but I suppose time will tell. Ha!

These disposable toothbrushes had amazing reviews on Amazon and let’s get real- I also liked the way they looked and the price tag. I threw all of the dental items in a corner of a drawer and called it done.

On a more practical note- obviously a bathroom needs toilet paper. One of my pet peeves about our previous bathroom was lack of storage for toilet paper. It takes up so much room and I could never buy the larger bundles for extra savings. Luckily, we have plenty of storage for TP and whatever else in the guest bath. I also threw together some feminine products, should anyone need those type of items… and makeup remover / face wipes are always a good idea!

I also did another crazy thing, that turned out to be pretty smart. I bought a giant bundle of spa slippers on Amazon, that fill the bottom drawer. They’re packed in pairs and although our house is under construction pretty much all the time, I try to keep the clean spaces clean… that means we’re a no-shoe household most of the time. If friends come over, I usually offer them a pair of my house slippers, and I know these will be so much easier when trying to coax the shoes off of people.

In my true OCD, type-A, Sarah fashion… I did another nutty thing. Emmett literally thinks I’ve lost my mind and laughed at me, but I already told you- I FULLY committed to the hotel bath concept. I couldn’t stop myself…

Yep- I bought a hair dryer and a bag to put it in. I kind of love it! I also tossed a brush, comb, hairspray, hair ties, white turbie towels (my favorite), and dry shampoo into the “hair care” drawer.

Next to each sink, I positioned a soap dispenser. I had lots of questions about these after the reveal. I swapped the silver tops for matte black pumps I found on Amazon. If you have a dispenser and prefer a different colored pump- they come in all different finishes and it’s an easy trade.

On the burl vanity table, I added a box of tissues (with this basic cover), cotton rounds, and Q-tips. I still really love the marble vanity mirror I shared with you in the reveal- it’s so classic looking.

Hopefully this list will come in handy if you’re stocking a newly renovated bathroom, are moving into a new home, or are preparing for house guests. It’s basically a giant resource list of everything you could ever think of for a bathroom. I’m sure I missed some things and everyone has different preferences, so I left space in the “other” section for you to fill in additional items!
