Spicy Grapefruit Margarita
You guys- it happened again. Another grapefruit cocktail. We made these at work last week for Cinco de Mayo; of course I had the liberty of photographing and sampling. I couldn’t resist sharing the recipe because they were so delicious, despite having shared my own pink grapefruit cocktail recipe a couple weeks ago. The two taste completely different and have unique flavor profiles, but obviously I just can’t get enough grapefruit.
INGREDIENTS:
Cayenne Simple Syrup:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 tsp cayenne powder
Margaritas (makes two):
4 oz tequila
2 oz cayenne simple syrup
8 oz grapefruit juice
crushed ice
lime wedges
salt (to rim glasses)
INSTRUCTIONS:
For the Simple Syrup (make a few hours in advance):
Combine water, sugar, and cayenne in a small pot and bring to a simmer, stirring simultaneously until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and chill in refrigerator for at least three hours, until cold.
For the Margaritas:
Rim glasses with a lime wedge and press into salt for garnish. Place crushed ice in prepared glasses. Add tequila, simple syrup, and grapefruit juice to a cocktail shaker. Shake well until combined and pour into glasses over ice. Garnish with a lime or grapefruit wedge and enjoy!
Try this recipe and see how it compares to the pink grapefruit cocktail I previously shared. Which do you prefer? Cheers to Tuesday!
