The Half Bun
If you’re anything like us, you have been dying to try the various styles of half buns seen online lately. We took it upon ourselves to test out many of the popular looks being worn in casual street style and on the red carpet. From loose half buns, to tiny top knots, we’re fans of them all! Read below to see a few of our favorite styles – they’re super easy and you may even find one you want to try yourself.
The low bun: Collect hair directly above the ears and pull to the back of the head. Wrap the small section of hair around finger into a bun and secure with an elastic. Tousle hair on the top of the head for a messy look. I love using Batiste Dry Shampoo in Tropical to add texture and volume.
The headband bun: After creating loose waves with a wand, tease crown to desired height for a bouffant look. Place head band around front of head (leaving a few stray pieces hanging). Pull half of hair into a loose bun, securing loose pieces with pins. Sarah used Oribe Thick Dry Finishing Spray for her look.
The tiny top knot: Using only the hair on the very top of the head, twist hair into a tiny top knot and secure with elastics.
The loose half bun (above and below): Pull hair into a loose half bun, pulling loop only part way through elastic. We love Goody Ouchless Mini Clear Elastics. Add a clip for an extra fun detail!
Other products used: It’s a 10 Miracle Leave in Product on wet hair, Aquage Beyond Shine heat protectant before styling.
