Summer Pitcher Margaritas

Summer Pitcher MargaritasI hope you’re loving the backyard posts this week! I have to say, this post isn’t exactly a design or DIY project- but it’s definitely something we enjoy in the backyard. I wanted to share my favorite margarita recipe because these are always requested at barbecues or summer events. Friends either ask me to bring dessert or cocktails and if it’s a cocktail… this one is high on the wish list. These margaritas are for celebrating and they pack a punch, but are equally as delicious. Click through for the cocktail recipe that please a crowd…

When friends showed up for a little backyard barbecue last weekend, I quickly whipped up a pitcher of these and it’s safe to say they were a hit. If you like an authentic and classic margarita… this one’s for you!

Best Margarita RecipeSummer Pitcher Margaritas // makes 1 pitcher

1 bottle (760 ml) silver tequila
2 cups triple sec
2 cups limes juice, fresh squeezed… you’ll need about 20 limes (this makes or breaks it)
½ – 1 cup simple syrup (depending on your sweetness preference)
extra limes for slicing and garnish
margarita salt, for rimming the glass

This recipe is the easiest! Mix all the ingredients together in a large pitcher. You should definitely make these a couple hours in advance so the pitcher has time to chill in the fridge prior to party time. These will even keep for a day in the fridge as long the pitcher is tightly covered.

Classic Margaritas

Rimming Margarita GlassNext, prep your margarita glasses. Rim the edge of the glass with a lime wedge, and lightly press it into the margarita salt. This margarita is best served on the rocks. This time around I didn’t pull out any fun ice molds- but that’s always impressive.

Classic Margarita RecipeBe sure to taste test the recipe prior to serving to guests… you can always add and adjust the concoction! If they’re too strong, add a little lime juice and simple syrup. On the contrary, if you like a really stiff drink, feel free to add triple sec or tequila (although I don’t think you’ll need it).

Summer MargaritasTrust me when I say these pack a punch… they’re pretty strong. One cocktail will last you awhile, so an entire pitcher goes a long way with a crowd. I also like to put out some chips and salsa as a little appetizer for snacking. They’re obviously perfect paired alongside this cocktail- it’s like PB & J… a classic combo as old as time.

Authentic Chips + SalsaI found the glass pitcher and patterned cocktail napkins for super cheap! I bought them on a whim and it’s almost like they were made for this occasion. They were a great addition to impromptu entertaining and arrived in the mail just a day before.

The Best Margarita Recipe

Cocktails on PatioI twisted my friend Jen’s arm to pose with a margarita in hand before everyone showed up. I promised her she could sip while I shoot. Ha! Basically the moral of this cocktail story is this… margaritas go hand-in-hand with summertime, patios, pergolas, and get togethers. Do you guys have a favorite summertime drink recipe? I’d love to try it! Comment below.
