Sarah’s Dining Room
It’s been a few months since I posted the plan for my dining room and I’m thrilled it’s finished! Design*Sponge (super duper exciting!!) featured my home just before Thanksgiving and a few people have emailed in regards to the dining room, so I thought this would be the perfect time to share the renovation.
It’s been a long journey to this point. We had Thanksgiving dinner here during demolition a couple years ago, sitting in our camping lawn chairs with a pop-up table… complete with fast food, ha! At that point, we couldn’t envision the space ever being complete. Here’s a peek into the process:
Here we are, almost two years later and things have finally come together! I’m still saving up for a marble top, tulip base dining table. I keep hoping I can score a vintage one, but for now… I’m calling this space finished. I’ll live with the Ikea version in the meantime.
One of my favorite things in this room are the dining chairs! They turned out better than I could’ve imagined. It just goes to show, you can find really cool, inexpensive vintage pieces that add a ton of character.
The vintage credenza (aka, the bar) sits adjacent to the dining table against a pony wall. It helps to separate the space and hide anything on the countertop in the kitchen, while keeping things open concept.
Overall, I’m so happy with how the space turned out! I’m still in love with the paint color, and surprisingly this room didn’t stray far from the plan or my original intention for the space. It’s a room I work in everyday (while the basement studio is under construction), so I spend a ton of time in the dining room.
What are your favorite aspects in this space?
