Pink Grapefruit Cocktail
Without hesitation, I can easily answer that my favorite fruit is grapefruit. I have it every single morning. Whether it be the fruit itself or just the juice, it’s part of my breakfast on a daily basis.
Needless to say, I was really excited when my mixologist (Kalyn) concocted this grapefruit cocktail for me a few weeks ago. After all, that’s what husbands are for, right? This has become my drink of choice lately, especially with the weather warming up and finally feeling like spring. It’s refreshing, tart, with just a hint of sweetness- you have to try it!
PINK GRAPEFRUIT COCKTAIL:
2 parts vodka, Kalyn uses Absolut
1 part triple sec, Kalyn uses Cointreau
1 part sweet & sour, *make your own
2 parts freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
grapefruit wedge or mint for garnish
Juice grapefruits; a citrus press makes this process much easier! For a pulp-free cocktail, strain juice before measuring. Mix vodka, triple sec, sweet & sour syrup, and grapefruit juice in a cocktail shaker. Shake until well combined; pour over crushed ice in your favorite highball glass. Garnish with a wedge of grapefruit or a fresh sprig of mint.
I think the presentation and invigorating flavor of this mixed drink would be perfect for a brunch or afternoon cocktail hour!
*Sweet & Sour DIY:
1 cup hot water
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Combine hot water and sugar, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add lime and lemon juice. Mix all together and chill. Store in air tight bottle.
