November Moodboard

textured bedroomIt’s the first full week of November and I’m *trying* not to jump too far ahead into holiday mode. It’s tough in this industry because planning and shooting often happen in advance. Usually I only decorate/shoot a week or two before I actually would in real life, and that means (if I’m being honest)… I’ve been dreaming of holiday decor. However, in a perfect world- I’m sort of a purist and like to enjoy Thanksgiving FIRST, then move onto Christmas. How do you guys feel about that? All of this to say, the November mood board is inspired by texture. As the temperatures drop and I see snow in the mountains, my brain automatically goes into holiday mode (guilty as charged)– and this is what I’m feeling. LOTS of luxe texture. 01: sheepskin rug // 02: vintage fur chair // 03: hair-on-hide mirror // 04: channeled shag rug // 05: highland cow artwork // 06: tassel pillows // 07: loops wool pillow // 08: faux fur throw // 09: x bench // 10: moroccan wool pouf // 11: hand woven fringe blanket

My favorites from the roundup? The art (#5)… I’m a sucker for a beautiful black and white print in a modern frame. I’m also digging the wool pillow (#7)- I feel like that would be darling in a nursery. You also can’t go wrong with hair-on-hide (#3 and #9).

All of this talk of fur, faux fur, and all things cozy reminded me of this fireplace shoot I styled at our Ohio home years ago! If that doesn’t say texture, then I’m not sure what does.

luxe fireplace with furIf you’re into adding subtle luxe layers to your home this season, opt for an ottoman, pouf, or a single pillow / throw. I love the application in the below image. A big, soft, and inviting ottoman that is a total show stopper makes a statement in the living room. Pretty perfect if you ask me!

  1. Ha! I pretend to be a purist when it comes to waiting for Christmas, because I think that, as an adult, I should be able to restrain myself until after Thanksgiving. So we do all of our decorating, baking, etc. then. But, I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been secretly listening to Christmas music for the last month. Just the instrumental jazz versions, though. No lyrics… because that would be *weird*. 😉

    1. Seriously… same thing happening over here! ha! I love that I’m not alone.

  2. Do you know what the carpet is in the first picture!? It’s beautiful!
