Local Love: Confetti ( + A Giveaway! )

greeting cards

One of our favorite nearby shops, Confetti, hosted a fun calligraphy workshop over the weekend. Jacqueline was able to go and snap these awesome photos that perfectly capture the fun and colorful aesthetic of the store. Lucky for our local readers, you can have the same experience! Confetti is giving away a seat at their next calligraphy workshop on April 2nd… more details on that below.

I haven’t been friends with Briana, owner of Confetti, for very long… but it didn’t take much time to realize we had a ton in common and a few mutual friends. The day we were introduced, we immediately began scheming creative plans together and I knew Confetti had to be our next Local Love feature.

I pop in often for greeting cards. My background is in print design, with lots of hours on the letterpress… so I’m always hoarding cards and sending snail mail to my friends. The selection is gigantic and I love supporting local artists and studios. It’s pretty much the one stop shop for creative party and office supplies.

In regards to the workshop Jacqueline attended, the first calligraphy class was such a success, Briana already has more events, parties, and collaborations in the works. She is offering a spot at the next calligraphy workshop on April 2nd beginning at 11:00 am to one of our local readers (details for entering below)! You’ll be learning from the talented Karen Gall. If I can shuffle my schedule, you can bet I’ll be there, too.

I have to admit, I was excited yet a little bummed to receive text messages from Jacqueline during the class. I really wanted to attend but was traveling and couldn’t make it. Didn’t she do a phenomenal job for her very first time with a calligraphy pen?

Of course it wouldn’t be a true Local Love post if we didn’t wrap it up with something Dayton or Ohio inspired. You can show your love of our city with prints, apparel, cards, and even coffee cups. There are so many fun things to choose from!

Thank you so much Jacqueline! Great post and thanks for coming to my class. I had so much fun with you ladies!

  2. I fell in love with Confetti the first time I peered into the window one night I was downtown eating at Spaghetti Warehouse. I decided to make my way to the store and visit again when they were open a few weeks later. I purchased a beautiful planner for 2016 that constantly reminds me of the store! Who’s Next? Lihn’s Bistro is a wonderful local treasure :)

    1. Yes!! That’s where my 2016 planner came from, too. I’ll definitely have to check out Lihn’s. I haven’t heard of it. I’ve been to Lily’s Bistro though and love it. Is that the same? Thanks for the tip!! xo

I’e been to Confetti once before. Confetti is one of the bright spots of Dayton and encompasses everything that the ‘new and upcoming’ Dayton is about—local talent, local business and collaboration to ensure that Dayton is a shopping and dining destination. Heart on 5th (now Heart Mercantile) would be a great feature for you!

    1. Totally agree, Michelle!! This vintage wooden hand actually came from Heart Mercantile… I’ll have to add them to the round up.

  4. Lea Richards says:

Thank you guys for the chance to enter! I love Briana and her shop! She supplies my Galentines every year, and even did a photoshoot of us this spring. I’d love to attend this win or not!

I love this! I have been dying to get to Confetti for-ev-er. It looks so pretty. I wish I lived closer to Dayton but I’m a 45 minute trek away. I love this feature and am excited to get over there!

  6. Oh my gosh, I was so sad that I had to miss this too due to travel. So pumped that they’re doing it again! I’ve been to Confetti a number of times (it’s my favorite place to pick up snarky cards for my out of town friends) and once even got to try my hand at letterpress with the PaperReka crew!

    1. Same! I’m excited for the next one. I’m with you… my friends always get clever cards from Confetti. Reka happens to be one of mine and Briana’s mutual friends- love her! xo

    1. Yes, you’ll love it! Great idea on Sew Dayton… it’s a very cool place. xo

  10. I love Confetti! I’ve gotten into the habit of visiting every time I need a card. They always have new ( and beautiful) stuff.

My friend Kelsi told me about Confetti and I haven’t gotten a chance to get down there yet! I was so bummed to miss this first workshop! I’ve been looking for a dayton workshop but have had no luck in calligraphy lessons in the area. So excited to see this! Can’t wait for April 2nd!!

  13. Oh, I love Confettti! We grabbed a balloon there for my daufhter’s 2nd birthday back in December and it’s STILL UP! I also would have gotten all the things if my littles weren’t with me. Dying to go back solo and do some major damage ;)

    1. Yes!! So many cute things. Definitely a dangerous place for me too, Bri ;) ha! xo
