Lemon Mint Coupe (A Yogurt Cocktail)

Lemon Mint CocktailI didn’t realize yogurt cocktails were a thing until I had one in Minneapolis last month, and wham(!)… just like that I was hooked. These creamy, elegant drinks were practically made for dinner parties and events. They’re also a little dangerous because you literally can’t taste the alcohol. Click through for the recipe for this delicious lemon mint coupe.

Liberte YogurtSo here’s the scoop on Liberté… they’re the company that introduced me to the folks at Faribault and brought me to Minnesota. I have to say, initially, I thought it was a strange pairing, but I was eager to meet like minded creatives and was open minded going in. I’m not a huge yogurt person and I didn’t expect to like their products, but I’ve been buying it ever since- totally being honesty, and trying not to sound “salesy” because I hate that! Here’s what I like about it (for my fellow “non yogurt” people):

  • It’s organic- no artificial nonsense.
  • It’s creamy, but not as heavy or thick as greek yogurt.
  • The ingredients are quality- sourced from farmers and skilled tradespeople from across the world.
  • It helps the little guys- again, small farm and families.
  • The flavors are interesting (french lavender, philippine coconut, nicaraguan coffee bean, etc).
  • It makes amazing cocktails (obviously).

Lemon Yogurt Mint CocktailAlright, onto the actual cocktail… here’s what you’ll need:

Lemon Mint Coupe // makes 2 servings

2 ounces gin, I used a local variety- Beehive
1 ounce simple syrup
1 ounce tonic
2 heaping tablespoons Liberté lemon yogurt
3 mint leaves, plus extra for garnish
lemon, halved

Gin CocktailsThis is really a super easy cocktail to make. Begin by placing the mint sprigs into a shaker filled with ice. Next, add the gin, simple syrup, and tonic.

Lemon & Gin CocktailsNext you’re ready to add the heaping tablespoons of yogurt! Lastly add a small squeeze of lemon (to taste)… this is optional if you don’t love a ton of lemon.

Yogurt in CocktailsShake the ingredients until the outside is frosty and everything is well combined (around 30 seconds). Next, strain the mixture into a coupe and garnish with a sprig of mint! The creaminess of the yogurt gives this drink the perfect texture- without using eggs, like other cocktails.

Lemon Mint Coupe - A Yogurt Cocktail

Mint Lemon CocktailThese are so easy to drink and the flavor profile is fantastic. With spring around the corner, I will definitely be entertaining with this recipe soon! You know what else came to mind? Maybe these will replace my favorite julep on Derby Day this year. I’m finally ready to switch things up, and when it comes to presentation- these look better.

  1. These look so amazing. I’m a huge fan of a Gin Fizz, and I feel like the texture might be similar – definitely going to try this out! Yogurt in a cocktail, who knew?

    1. Me too!! Gin is my go-to liquor, and I think you’d love the texture of this. I discovered yogurt in cocktails during an event in MN I went to last year and have been obsessed ever since. Let me know what you think! xo
