Home Tour : The DIY Playbook

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comIt’s been a bit since I shared a home tour with you, so I thought it was about time to bring the series back! This time around, you’re getting the two for one special because my friends Bridget & Casey (aka, the brains behind The DIY Playbook) both have stunning homes. I met Bridget on a trip to Indianapolis with Delta Faucets last fall and we immediately hit it off. By default, I knew I would also love her bf and blog partner Casey, who wasn’t able to come on the trip. Long story short, they’re the DIY queens of home improvement and I know you’ll love their blog and house projects as much as I do. Click through for a peek into both of their Chicago spaces.

To avoid making this post a super long scrolling ordeal, I decided to choose 7 of my favorite shots from each of their homes (tough chore, I know). I’m going to start with Bridget’s house… in the nursery, to be specific! She just welcomed the sweetest babe into the world and let’s just say little Ben is one lucky boy to inhabit this room.

I should probably preface this by saying, Bridget just moved into a new house and has been tackling projects like a mad woman. Seriously- she’s kicking ass when it comes to crossing things off the to-do list. Lots of big changes for that one… new house, new baby, new renovation. Yikes!

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comI have to say, I thought it was so genius that Bridget installed the baby monitor / camera to the curtain rod. I love that it’s out of the way, inconspicuous, and doesn’t take up valuable shelf or dresser space. Click here to read more about how to hide a baby monitor and the cords that come along with it. I’m guessing the angle of the camera also works well because you can actually see down into the crib.

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comMoving into the living room, Bridget totally transformed her TV area. You have to click here for the before, because it’s unrecognizable. The TV and built-in layout actually reminds me a little of my own living room, so obviously I’m a fan.

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comIf you’re interested in how she transformed the fireplace, here’s another good read. It’s hard to believe it’s the same fireplace. The white marble mosaic is such a classic choice for the surround.

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comNext up, we’re moving into the dining room… which is sort of open concept to the family room and entryway. You can get a closer look at the entire space in this post, but I’m really digging the simplicity and minimalism Bridget has going on in here.

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comObviously Bridget has tackled a TON since moving in, but she’s only lived here since September, so I don’t have bedrooms to share with you quite yet… but I did pull one image from her previous home. It’s interesting how this space feels totally different than her new house. I’m liking the textural element the wall paneling adds to the bright white space .

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comAlright, ready to move onto Casey’s condo? Let’s do it!

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comI suppose the obvious place to start is the entryway. I love the simple hooks and millwork she added to give the space a bit more character! Check out the before image here, along with the tutorial for adding easy board and batten in your own home.

Next, we’ll make our way into the living room…

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comWhat I would give for a giant built-in like that! It’s certainly taking shelf styling to another dreamy level. It just goes to show- you don’t have to have a fireplace in your living room to make built-in shelving work. Casey perfectly executed the styling, balancing the negative space… I’m sure that was no easy feat for a shelf of this size.

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comI think I’m most excited to take you into her guest room, because I wasn’t lying when I said these two are the DIY queens.

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comSave and pin this post! I repeat, you should totally save this if you’re also into the wall paneling application (I certainly am). The deep navy hue is perfection and adds even more drama to the wall treatment.

In addition to walls, the other DIY in the guest room I’m obsessed with is the genius IKEA credenza hack. I’m actually considering doing something similar in my office.

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comLastly, let’s take a peek into Casey’s bedroom. It’s pretty spacious, as she also has a workstation and desk setup in the room.

Home Tour : The DIY Playbook - roomfortuesday.comThere you have it friends! I love swapping tours with my blogger friends from time-to-time. Aren’t these two amazing? If you’re interested in seeing more of their houses, I’m linking the entire home tours: Bridget’s Old House // Casey’s Condo // Bridget’s New Place

I also wanted to share my favorite DIY projects they’ve done… after all- they’re blog is named The DIY Playbook. I can definitely vouch that my friends live up to their name…

Questions for myself, Bridget, or Casey? Shoot us a comment below! Also, let me know what you think of their home tours. I’m usually the neighborhood creep that walks the dogs after dusk, so I can see into everyone’s homes to look at how they’re decorated. Therefore, these homes tours are my jam (and far less creepy).
