Client Project : Eat-In Dining Room

Live Edge Dining TableLast week I shared the incredible kitchen makeover at my best friends’ house, this week I’m revealing their eat-in dining room! This space went from cramped and tight with only 3 functional seats, to a spacious dining table for 6. Click through for the complete reveal and sources.

Chic Dining RoomI’ll start by sharing Dru & Brooke’s wishlist in their dining area…

  1. Comfortable dining chairs
  2. More place settings (4-6)
  3. An organic (preferably live edge) dining table

Luckily, I was able to give them everything on their wishlist and stay within the budget. Even though the allotted space for the dining area is minimal and awkward, we were able to install and customize a storage banquette that offered a great solution to their narrow eat-in dining room. It also provided a ton of storage! You can find that DIY here.

Organic Dining Table and Storage BanquetteInitially I thought the only way we could score a live edge table was to either have something custom made or get lucky with a vintage find. Luckily, about the same time we were ready to start this project, both West Elm and Anthropologie came out with nearly identical versions.  We snagged the less expensive of the two and it works perfectly in the space.

Dining Room

Eat-In Dining RoomDru and Brooke love a lot of hard and high contrast materials, but the kitchen and dining space started to feel a bit cold. By introducing the organic dining table and adding drapery to the sliding glass doors, things quickly warmed up. The dining chairs also look inviting and are as comfortable as they are stunning. The easy-to-clean cotton and rounded back make for the perfect combination of design and function.

Dining Chairs

PeoniesI also traded out their existing light fixture for something that was more appropriately scaled. We also had the electrician center it over the dining table. The white linen shades compliment the graphic, bronze frame, giving you an awesome view from the kitchen and even the lower level living room!

Chandelier

Linen ShadesPretty much everything is this dining room is even more amazing in person… I selfishly want it all for myself. If you’re in the same boat, you can find all of the shopping links below:

Patterned Throw PillowLastly, we added some throw pillows to the banquette to add additional texture and pattern. The art leading up the stairs to the dining room and kitchen was actually a birthday gift to Brooke (from me). I painted it a couple years ago and she always commented on how much she loved the piece, so this year I ended up surprising her with it!

Entryway ArtAs always, I’d love to hear your feedback on this client project! Dru & Brooke are the type of couple that always have people over and love entertaining. They’ve been putting their kitchen and dining space to good use and I can’t think of a more deserving couple for this design.
