A Chic Dressing Room

dressing room

It’s been a long time coming, but I’m excited to finally share my dressing room. This room may be the biggest transformation in our house. Before moving in, this room was a total man cave with plaid wallpaper. Now, it is the exact opposite: a chic dressing room and closet. I live in an old three-bedroom home, with very tiny rooms. Since this space was not large enough to fit bulky bedroom furniture, I convinced my husband to let me turn it into a walk-in closet. I am so happy with the results and I love spending time in this space!

The grid gallery wall might be my favorite element in the room. After some deep thinking and discussion with Sarah, we decided to go with a grid wall instead of a traditional gallery wall or oversized art. The composition turned out great and I love that it updates the typical gallery wall we so often see. I found these vintage Vogue dog calendar prints on Etsy and I was sold. I love the quirkiness each piece brings to the space… which one is your favorite?

The cowhide rug has quickly become one of Piper’s favorite places to lounge. I searched high and low for the perfect cowhide. In the end, the quality of this rug and the price were unbeatable! I also loved that it was made completely of natural products and wasn’t going to bring dangerous materials into our home.

From a fashion perspective, my closet is always maturing and some of my favorite pieces are the ones that have stayed with me throughout the years. I tend to lean more toward neutrals in fashion, as well as home decor. What you like to wear on your body and what you like to put in your home go hand-in-hand. I enjoy using outfits from my closet as inspiration for my home. This is important to keep in mind as your style continues to evolve and you figure out what best suits you.

I wanted this room to reflect a delicate, feminine mood. The soft, cool gray paint color and the pattern reflected throughout the room from the light fixture help to create that aesthetic.

  1. Gorgeous space! That pendant is killer, and I love your little jewelry boxes and trays. I’m writing this as I sit in our totally unfinished office/ guest room (complete with my overflowing mess of a closet) and I’m feeling just a smidge of envy at your lovely dressing room!

    1. Jacqueline Brown says:

Hi Arielle! This space has definitely been a work in progress for quite some time. I am sure your office/guest room will be beautiful once it is complete. Keep your eyes on the finish line! :-)

I am blown away & think I may want to come live in this room. Very very talented Jacqueline. I love it. My favorite piece from the grid gallery is top right. I don’t know if it’s her, however from my view it reminds me of Audrey Hepburn. Keep stylin’ girl!

    1. Jacqueline Brown says:

Thank you so much, Beth! We would be more the happy to host you next time you are in Dayton. :-) It is Audrey Hepburn…good eye!

The first thing I noticed was the pictures!!!! I’m a dog lover and those pictures are perfect!!!!!!! My favorite one is with the Great Dane, it’s the one that caught my eye first :) And I’m loving that light fixture! I would spend a lot of time in that room too. Amazing!

    1. I love those, too! So glad you like the space. xo

    2. Jacqueline Brown says:

Thank you, Leah! The Great Dane is definitely one of my favorites too. So glad you enjoyed the space!

Such lovely composition – the subtle touches of glamour, clean lines and a soft palette are too perfect. I too currently have a dressing room/office space in our rental, but it’s an explosion of bold colors and patterns. I cannot wait until we finally move into our renovated bungalow for a chance to design a more sophisticated space.

    XO, Oksana

    1. Jacqueline Brown says:

Hi Oksana! I am usually drawn to soft, calming color palettes – especially in a home. I am sure your bungalow is going to be beautiful! I can’t wait to see more. :-)

  5. Hi! I am smitten with your dressing room, and wondering about a couple things…first the designer of the globe pendant?! Beautiful!, second the white paint you used?! Did you use the same color for baseboards trim, walls, and ceiling, and what is the name of the white?

    Thank you

    1. Jacqueline Brown says:

Hi Susie! Thanks for the sweet comments on the dressing room. The globe pendant light was from Serena & Lily…however, I believe it is sold out. We linked a smilier option in the post. The white paint we used was Sherwin Williams “Pure White” trim paint and the walls are Sherwin Williams “Rhinestone”. The ceiling was left over from the previous owners, so I do not know the specific color. Hope this helps! xo, Jacqueline
