Bedroom Transformation
As promised, we’re moving onto the second of three spaces designed for the historic show house. In case you missed the first renovation of the series, check out the hall bathroom here. This room was being used by the homeowners as a bedroom for their daughter. Our intent was to keep the bedroom feminine, while adding an edgy sense of sophistication fit for a young lady.
The variety of textures in this space is really varied. We used hard materials like glass, metal and acrylic, mixed with soft textiles such as leather, linen and velvet- together they create the perfect balance. How amazing are those tufted leather ottomans? They have the tiniest bit of saturation, allowing a gorgeous coral pink to barely show through.
We styled the space with a minimal mindset. Aside from lighting, we used books along with a few other accessories- check out that super cool vintage geode!
The chair below once looked pretty ugly. It popped straight out of the 70’s…and not in a good / love it kind of way. It was orange, yellow and in poor condition. We had it reupholstered in this phenomenal lace print fabric, complete with a black velvet contrast welt and back. It turned out even better than I expected. Photos really don’t do it justice.
The art was definitely the most controversial piece in the space. Funny, it was also my favorite component of the room. We mounted this classic print behind acrylic and used brass standouts for a contemporary look. The bold nature of the image and dramatic high contrast totally fit the hard meets soft vibe we were going for.
Another pair of my favorite accessories in the room include these two dogs. For a few more peeks into the space, you can see images on my Instagram.
Although we were pushed for time, the space came together nicely. What is your favorite piece in the bedroom? The tufted daybed? Mod floor lamp? Art? Glass cocktail table? Tell me! I’d love to hear your take on this space.
